    This collection comprises the papers of Herbert M. Hodgkin, Henry T. Hodgkin and Elizabeth Joy Hodgkin. More details for boxes 1-18 can be found in the Library boxlist. Boxes 1-9 (folders 1-95) contain papers of Henry T. Hodgkin (H.T.H): Box 1: folders 1-13 Friends Foreign Mission Association (FFMA) and his time as Secretary. Box 2; folders 14-25 Fellowship of Reconciliation (FoR). Box 3: folders 26-37 National Christian Council of China (NCCC) and his time as Secretary. Box 4: volumes 38-40 correspondence (May 1889-September 1909). Box 5: volume 41 correspondence, some with supporting papers (October 1909-December 1917); folders 42-49 correspondence, some with supporting papers (1899-1916) and duplicate notebook 50 (1913-1918). Box 6: folders 51-64 correspondence, some with supporting papers (1919-1933). Box 7: folders 65-70 typescript articles, notes, letters regarding publication of items and copies of printed materials mainly regarding religion, peace and China. Box 8: folders 71-81 and notebook 82 typescript articles, notes, letters regarding publication of items and copies of printed materials mainly regarding religion, peace and China. Box 9: folders 83-95 printed and typescript items including those regarding education, social welfare, religion, China, information about Henry Hodgkin and personal papers. Boxes 10-11 (folders 96-111) contain the papers of Herbert M. Hodgkin (H.M.H.): Box 10: folders 96-109 school books, notes, examination papers and papers and related materials on China. Box 11: folders 110/1-110/9 correspondence and supporting papers and folder 111 typescript of a play, 'Peace and the Children'. Box 12: folders 112-116 contain papers of Elizabeth Joy Hodgkin (E.J.H.) relating to America, China and Holland and folders 117-122 contain unsorted items including leaflets, correspondence, press cuttings, rough notes, articles and printed materials. Box 13: folders (123-129) include information about Culver Military Academy and various notebooks, pamphlets and booklets. Boxes 14-18 contain additional papers of Henry T. Hodgkin (H.T.H.): Box 14: folders (1-12) letters from his childhood, Bootham School, Leighton Park School, Cambridge University and St Thomas' Hospital and from his work in China and at Chentu University and visits to the U.S. Box 15: folders (1-14) contain letters from Henry to Joy Hodgkin from his work and travels in China, Siberia, the U.S., Syria and near East, Canada, Madagascar, Glasgow and the north of England, Geneva, Holland and Japan and letters from Henry and Joy to Jonathan Backhouse Hodgkin about Germany and China. Box 16: folders (1-20) include letters from his work in China with the Y.M.C.A., Friends Foreign Mission Association and at Chentu; an invitation to become Secretary of F.F.M.A.; details of a visit to Syria and the Garden City Conference; a record of his tour of the U.S.; correspondence on pacifism and FoR matters; a copy of a sermon in Shanghai and a conference address in Jerusalem; letters to H.T and E.J.H. about a journey to the Far East; printed letters from China; details of a conference with the Japanese at Hangchow; journal letters from Japan, U.S. and China; invitation to become General Secretary of the FoR and memoranda, 'My Responsibilities toward the Church in China' and about the situation in China. Box 17: folders (1-15) include correspondence, Parliamentary papers, conference papers, reports, statements and circulars on the situation and crisis in China and papers on war issues. Box 18: folders (1-18) include papers on lay religion and social experiments and addresses, sermon and lecture notes on religion, the Church, philosophy and history of religion, social progress, spiritual life and worship, Russia and China. Box 19 contains further additional papers of Henry T. Hodgkin (H.T.H.): Box 19: folder (1) rough notes regarding China, religion, peace and death; (2) H.T.H. journal letters (1905-1909); (3) papers regarding Yale Mission in China; (4) notes for an address on peace and war; (5) letters to, from and about Joy Hodgkin (1905-1962); (6) two notebooks, 'Lectures' and 'Christian Revolution' by H.T.H.; (7) printed articles; (8) printed articles; (9) notes and information about the F.F.M.A. secretaryship (1910), Selly Oak Colleges (c.1930) and Woodbrooke Settlement (1928-1929); (10) notes and information including those about Friends in China, Ginling College and Yearly Meeting (1923/1955); (11) details of H.T.H. death (1933); (12) ms drafts of 'International Political Movements and the China Mind' and 'A Visit to Madagascar' by H.T.H.; (13) various typescript drafts of articles, extracts from letters and poems; (14) various pamphlets about Christianity, China and education. Box 20; black and white photographs and strips of negatives, mainly China. Box 21: photograph albums. Box 22: prints and watercolour paintings of plants by Herbert Hodgkin.
