    The fonds consists of an account of Elihu Robinson's stay in London for the Yearly Meetings of 1762 and 1765 (1762-1965); an account of his journey towards London in 1768 and 1772 and of the Yearly Meetings for those years (1768-1791); an account of his journey towards London in 1776 and of the Yearly Meeting for that year (1776); an account of his journey towards London in 1780 and 1785 and of the Yearly Meetings for those years (1780-1785); an account of his journey towards London in 1799 and of the Yearly Meeting for that year (1799); an account of a visit to Eaglesfield, Cumberland, by Thomas Clarkson and of his work together with some reflections, remarks and other observations (1774-1806); notes on the weather, agriculture and events mainly concerning Eaglesfield and the adjacent area (1779-1795); and memoranda (1806-1807).

      Elihu Robinson, born 21 October 1734, was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Robinson (dates unknown) of Kirby, Cumberland (1). He lived at Eaglesfield, Cumberland and was a prominent meteorologist. On 5 July 1757, he married Ruth Mark of Bowscale (dates unknown) at Portinscale, Keswick, Cumberland (2).
