      Catherine Alexander (born Eorsnaill) was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (born Baker) Horsnaill of Dover, Kent. She was born there on 25 December 1806 (1). In 1845, she married, as his second wife, George William Alexander (1802-1890). In 1849-50, she accompanied her husband and John and Maria Candler on a visit to the West Indies. In 1853, George and Catherine Alexander and their family moved to Reigate (2).
